Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. Our full Privacy Policy is set out below.
Last Updated: 1 September, 2025Privacy Acknowledgment
By using the Game, you acknowledge that we use your data only as described in that Privacy Policy. Please review it carefully.
Privacy Policy for Brilliance
Brilliance (the “App” or “Game”) collects only minimal user information, and is designed to function primarily offline. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, why it is collected, and how it is used. By using Brilliance, you consent to the data practices described herein.
Information We Do Not Collect
No Sign-In Data: We do not require or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifiers. You are free to enter any display name in your profile, but this name is stored locally on your device and is not linked to you or transmitted to us.
No Account Information: There is no user account or registration process. We do not collect login credentials, and we have no record of who is playing the Game beyond aggregate data.
No Contacts or Sensitive Data: We do not access your contacts, photos, location, camera, or microphone. The Game does not collect any personally sensitive information.
Information We Automatically Collect
Brilliance may collect certain technical and usage information automatically to ensure the Game functions correctly and to help us improve it. This information is non-personal and cannot by itself identify you. It may include:
Device Information: such as device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (like the Android advertising ID). This helps us check compatibility and debug issues.
Usage Data: such as which levels you play, how long you play, your scores, and how the app is used. We use this data in aggregated form to analyze and improve gameplay.
Crash Reports: If the Game crashes or encounters errors, we may receive anonymized crash reports (via Google Play Console or Firebase
Crashlytics) to fix bugs and enhance stability.
Consistent with best practices, “we do not generally collect or store information by which we may personally identify
you (PII) through the App”. All collected data is either anonymous or tied only to your device (not to your identity).
Use of Information
We use the information we collect (device info and usage data) for the following purposes:
Game Operation: to ensure the App runs smoothly on your device and to troubleshoot any technical issues.
Analytics and Improvement: to analyze aggregate usage patterns and improve the Game’s content and performance over time. As noted by other apps, such information is used “to optimize and improve our services”. For example, analytics data helps us decide which riddles to add or balance difficulty.
Advertisements: to support the Game through ads. We use Google AdMob, which may use your device’s advertising ID to show more relevant ads. In general, we follow the approach of displaying “targeted advertisements” based on non-identifiable information.
Notifications: We may send optional push notifications (e.g. about new riddles or updates) using Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can disable notifications in your device settings if you prefer.
Third-Party Services
Brilliance integrates third-party services for advertising and analytics. These services have their own data practices, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies:
Google AdMob: Used to serve advertisements. Google may collect data (such as the Advertising ID and usage signals) under its own privacy terms. As one example app notes, Google Analytics and Google AdMob are included services.
Google Firebase Analytics: Used to collect aggregate usage and performance statistics. This data helps us improve the Game. Firebase complies with Google’s privacy policies.
Google Play Console: We may access aggregated statistics (installs, crashes, etc.) through the Google Play Console.
We do not share your personal information (since we do not collect any) with these third parties. The data they collect is governed by their own privacy policies. For example, Digitalchemy’s Word Puzzle game mentions: “The App includes the use of Google Analytics, Google Analytics for Firebase, and Google AdMob”. We similarly use Google services, and Google’s privacy controls (like resetting the Advertising ID) apply to your data. We do not control these third-party tracking technologies; their use of your information is not covered by this Privacy Policy.
Advertising and Opt-Out
The Advertising ID on your device is used for showing ads. You can opt out of personalized ads by resetting or disabling your Advertising ID at any time. As explained by Google: the Advertising ID is “a non-persistent, resettable identifier” for targeted advertising. To opt out, go to your device’s Google settings and select “Ads” to reset your Ad ID or opt out of interest-based ads. Uninstalling the App will stop all data collection by the App.
Children’s Privacy
Brilliance is designed for a general audience, including children and adults. However, we do not target the App specifically to children under age 13. In compliance with COPPA and other child-protection laws, we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will promptly delete it. Parents: if you become aware of any data we have collected from your child, please contact us so we can remove it.
Security of Your Information
Since all progress data (names, points, rewards) is stored locally on your device and not transmitted to us, the main data at risk would be the analytics and ad-related data sent to Google. All communications with Google’s servers (for ads and analytics) are encrypted using standard internet security protocols (HTTPS). For example, Google Play’s Data Safety section indicates that data is “encrypted in transit”. We implement standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. By using the App, you acknowledge that we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted via internet services.
International Users and GDPR
Brilliance is available worldwide. If you are in the EU or other regions with specific privacy laws: under GDPR, many analytics we collect could be considered “personal data.” We rely on legitimate interest (improving the App) and your consent (for ads) as our legal basis. We also use Google’s frameworks (Privacy Shield, EU Model Clauses) for data transfers. Users have rights under GDPR (access, correction, deletion). Since we collect virtually no personal data, these rights are minimal; the main personal data would be the Advertising ID and analytics, which you can control via your device settings. EU residents may have additional choices (such as the DAA’s AppChoices for ads).
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new “Last updated” date and, if changes are material, we will notify you via the App or Google Play. Your continued use of the Game after changes means you accept the revised Policy.
